In 2017, GHIG collaborated with the International Diagnostics Centre (IDC) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to convene a series of regional HIV CD4 workshops in Africa (3 Regions – Southern, Eastern, Western; Lusaka, Nairobi, Abidjan). The purpose of these workshops was to support the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in further clarifying the roles for CD4 for patient management. These workshops were directly involved with the launch of the WHO Advanced Disease Guidelines with CD4 as the screening test for the Advanced Package of Care. GHIG will continue to work with WHO, CDC and industry partners in 2018 to ensure implementation of the Advanced Disease Guidelines and Package of Care.
