GHIG was the conference coordinator for the 3rd and 4th African Society for Laboratory Medicine international conference (ASLM2016 and ASLM2018), held in Cape Town, South Africa, December 2016 and Abuja, Nigeria, December 2018, respectively. These conferences bring together more than 1500 participants from all over the world with more than 30 sessions and over 400 posters. The theme for the 2016 conference was Combatting Global Health Threats in Africa and the theme for the 2018 conference was Preparing for the Next Pandemic: The role of the laboratory.
