GHIG is currently working with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) as part of the European Union (EU) funded ZikaPLAN project. The ZikaPLAN initiative is composed of 25 partners in Latin America, North America, Africa, Asia, and various academic centres in Europe to address Zika and prepare for beyond Zika. GHIG is specifically working with LSHTM to set up a bio bank network that will support the development and validation of new diagnostic assays. Recently, Unicef has also become interested in the Zika bio banking efforts and has engaged with GHIG and LSHTM to support the evaluations of potential Zika diagnostics through the devlopment of panels and access to evaluation sites. GHIG will continue to work with LSHTM and ZikaPLAN to coordinate these evaluations, roll out these diagnostics for case use studies, and accelerate market entry of Zika diagnostics.
